We came across a box of old letters from an abandoned storage unit. These letters are from 1942 – 1945 and consists of a teenager leaving home for the first time and writing back home to his mom, dad and baby sister.
These letters start out with his going from Bellaire, Ohio and moving to Washington DC as he begins working for the government as a typist for the Veterans. His work then transfers him to New York. He, as most young men at the time, then enters the military and writes of his experiences until his time in the service ends.
These letters were read and recorded as they were taken out of the envelope. You will hear the best interpretation of what he was trying to say in a raw read. These are not perfect at all as they are not rehearsed.
We hope you enjoy the letters as this is a historical view of the way things were over 80 years ago. A nostalgic look at the past during a time of turmoil in our nations history.
